Alaska Road Trip

76920001

On April 13th I set out on a two-week long road trip with my best friend from college. We left the San Francisco Bay Area and headed to Seward, Alaska. Morgan Wodhams is the captain of a tour boat in the Kenai Peninsula for Major Marine Tours.

We’ve known each other 15 years, lived together 6 of those years, and share a myriad of stories. Virtually none of those stories involved any real travel together. Morgan has spent a number of years traveling the world. He’s covered more territory than most accomplish in a lifetime. A real globe trekker, he’s someone I’ve always wanted to accompany on a journey. When opportunity knocked, I took advantage.

It was time for Morgan to head to Alaska for the tourist season, to begin again his summer in the Great White North.

The large collection of images below are from the first 5 days of our journey. In 4 days of driving and one spent relaxing we covered 2,120 miles, an average of 530 miles a day. Continue Reading →

Tried a couple different things last week on a quick adventure with Bijan Sabet and Nick Bilton with varying results. This first image is okay, the second image (after the jump) is much better. Continue Reading →

The Wolf

Wolfman doing his best to ignore the sunset. Shot this with Cubby awhile back. He was hooked up the the strobes, so I thought I’d get my “artsy” on and keep the focus on the Golden Gate in the background while exposing for the beautiful warm ambient light. I didn’t think I’d catch the strobes that Cubby fired with his camera at all. A perfect example of a happy mistake.

WES RHOE

Kyle Emery-Peck

The same day that I shot photos here in the city with the STF crew, I also shot this banger of a rail with Wes. This was the last thing we shot of the day, just as the sun was going down. Wes nailed it first go. A great way to end a really productive day of filming/shooting. Expect to see clips of all the photos I shot in an upcoming STF edit.

Shot this one awhile back. Took Cubby two different trips here to pull it first try (we got the boot the first time). Follow me on YouTube to see this shot and more in an upcoming edit.

Chas locking it up around a sharp corner

We went out a couple times to shoot Chas and Crihs (more to come on that soon). Here are a couple close-ups I shot with a borrowed lens from The Werehaus that I can’t get enough of. Continue Reading →
