Aaron Durand

Just before the turn of the calendar year I spent an afternoon driving around with Arthur and John looking at some old favorite places to lurk, shoot, and get out of the way. Historically this building was a train station turn-around. It’s been out of commission for a good while, burnt down once or twice, and has become a haven for illegal fun. Continue Reading →

Tunneling part 2

Know how to get lit up in a photo contest you didn’t know you were having inside a tunnel? Watch your homie meter only for the light and come out with most of these gems. Continue Reading →

Night Time Is the Right Time

Aaron Durand

A few weeks back a friend and I took a return trip to one of our favorite abandonments in San Francisco for a little night time photo mission. The above image was taken just after sunset, during the blue hour. Continue Reading →

Cruisin’

Aaron Durand

Last weekend I took Dylan and our friend Finch Linden out on a field trip an hour outside of the city to a couple spots I hadn’t visited in a while. We made a day of it, popping into a tunnel on the water, hitting my favorite burrito spot in the world, and then escaping to a magical abandoned amusement park (that looks more like a vacant barn at this point). FFC Welcomes Aaron Durand

Terry Barentsen

You may remember Aaron from a few posts before. We’ve been following his work on both tumblr and flickr for awhile. He’s a Portland native who moved to San Francisco about four years ago. Upon his arrival he picked up a camera and initially began shooting graffiti as a means to learn how to use it and to see parts of the bay area that most people won’t see. He’s a balding, avid adventurer who mostly shoots film, and has never ridden a track bike/ fixed gear. In fact he once said, “What is Macaframa?” He likes to surround himself around a creative group of people. Some of his friends : Steve Rotman, Dan Carlson, Nick Fisher, Walter Yetman, and Troy Holden are the biggest influences on his work. Speaking of Aaron’s work, check out his featured work below. A few weeks back we went out on a rainy night to shoot some long exposure hill bombs of 25th & Dolores. Living in SF, especially in the winter months, we often find ourselves riding at night down/up various hills to get places. Continue Reading →
