This is the first post of a series we are calling the “Personal Series.” Each post will spotlight prominent figures and people we admire in the bike community, by showcasing their talents and interests on and off the bike. We will choose a rider we respect and have them take us to a few places and get to know them a bit better through the medium of photos. There is plenty more to come.
You may have heard of Chas before. If you have been to any annual races, he has most likely beat you, and probably also rode there on his track bike! Chas is a good homie of ours, and a perfect rider to get this series on the right foot.
Chas (MASH rider) is cofounder and operator of TCB Courier, which celebrates it’s second year today! TCB is the largest messenger service in all of San Francisco, boasting more than 18 riders and counting. “When we started, it was only two of us, and we never planned for it to get this big, or even that we would still be running TCB two years later. However, I can’t think of anything else I would rather be doing with my life.” – CC
“I feel privileged to be able to spend my days surrounded by energetic, dedicated friends doing what we love. The quality and caliber of the rider is whats makes TCB successful and is what has brought us to our 2 year anniversary.”
“The whole reason we started TCB was so that we could travel and always have a job to come back to (something that is rare in the messenger community). I was gone 42 days out of the last 90 traveling and racing, and I love TCB for that.”
“This summer i had the privilege and pleasure of traveling to Jakarta Indonesia to race in fixed fest 2011, I went to Warsaw for CMWC 2011, CAR KILLERS!! Just finished up a ride from LA to Las Vegas with Marc Marino and Crihs Thorman, in which we did 825 miles in 6 days on track bikes with only backpacks as support. Getting ready to fly to the NACCC’s in Austin TX in a few weeks. Then off to Milano for RHC 2011. And thats only in the last 3 months! TCB has given me the freedom to live my life and work a job I love, and for that I am forever grateful.”
